Sticky Glutinous Rice Imports

The Trade Ministry gave Sarinah license to import glutinous rice. Requests came from large companies unable to directly import them.

DESPITE both being rice, glutinous white rice appears to be having better luck compared to plain rice. While the import of white rice has caused a lot of public commotion, plans to import 50,000 tons of glutinous rice went smoothly. Import of glutinous rice was decided nearly simultaneously with importing of white rice, claimed to be at a surplus, even though the price of this main staple continued to rise.
