The Risk of Automatic Adjustment of the State Budget for Jokowi’s Social Assistance

The 2024 State Budget’s automatic adjustment funds are redistributed to social assistance programs and fertilizer subsidy. This policy may be in violation of two laws.

NUR Janah seemed happy after receiving 10 kilograms of rice at the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) Warehouse, Klaten Regency, Central Java, on January 31. She is one of the food assistance’s beneficiary families (KPM) in Klaten. President Joko Widodo attended the food assistance distribution ceremony. “He said the food aid is to help us because the price of rice has just risen,” she told Tempo on February 7.
