Slow Import Permit Issuance Leads to Garlic Price Hikes

THE soaring price of garlic has forced the Presidential Staff Office to take action. Deputy III of the Presidential Chief of Staff Edy Priyono said that on Friday, May 17, his office summoned garlic importers who had received import permits but had less than 50 percent import realization. “The results were presented during a coordination meeting on inflation control at the Home Affairs Ministry,” Edy told Tempo on Tuesday, May 21
