Bank Permata is to make several of its employees redundant. Will Bank Central Asia (BCA) and BankMandiri also follow suit?

SUSENO, a Bank Bali employee in West Jakarta, is not celebrating like he had hoped. At the beginning of the month, the bank where he works was officially merged with four other banks also under the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA), to become Bank Permata—the other four are Bank Universal, Bank Prima Express, Bank Patriot and Bank Artha Media. Because of the merger, Suseno had already been planned to take early retirement.
