In the early 1970s, the Pertamina offices in Jakarta were visited by important guests. They were a group of officials from Malaysia who came to learn about this country's oil and gas industry. The aim of the visit was to start their own national oil company. Not only were they taken on a tour, the guests also copied Law No. 8/1971 on Pertamina, which was just approved then by the legislators.
