THE sugar scarcity that commenced in mid-April is continuing. The sweet commoditys price rocketed to Rp7,000 a kilogram before market forces caused it to drop to Rp6,000. Today nearly all of Indonesiaexcepting North Sumatra and West Kalimantanis experiencing the bitter taste of a sugar price which cannot be pushed back down to Rp4,000.
