BANK Indonesia should be worried. Apparently, the trend of the decrease in the interest rate on Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBIs) and the stability in the exchange rate of the rupiah during the last three months has not been matched by an improvement in the performance of banks. An evaluation study carried out by the central bank during the first quarter of this year indicates that many banks now have much less peace of mind.
