NON-performing loans (NPLs) in Indonesias banking system are like a virus that keeps infecting a human body despite already being bombarded with several different types of antibiotics. The government, through the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA), has already spent trillions of rupiah in cleaning up banks balance sheets and NPLs. Now, the same disease as before has started becoming contagious again.
