THIRTY-two years ago, for the sake of efficiency, five state universities began to conduct a joint selection test for prospective students. It was called the Secretariat of Cooperation of Five Universities (SKALU). The members were University of Indonesia (UI), Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Airlangga University (Unair).
