THE sun has just gone down in Desa Renah Kayu Embun, Kecamatan Sungai Penuh, Kerinci, in Jambi. Burhanuddin was taking his wudhu (ablution) at a stream in preparation for the maghrib evening prayer when he saw a tiger lurking in the bush just 20 meters away. The tiger, 1.5 meters long, had to take only three steps to jump on Burhanuddin. Trembling with fear, the 31-year-old farmer stepped slowly back. Inexplicably, the tiger didnt make any move.
