A traditional agreement is an effective weapon in combating waste plastic in a Bali village. It should be imitated by other regions.

NI LUH Renci’s small store seems pretty clean. The usual scattered litter is absent. At the front of the store hang two medium-sized bags—the first is for organic waste, while the other is solely for plastics. Bags like these can be found in every house in Purwayu traditional village, in Abang subdistrict, Karangasem, Bali.
Sixty-year-old Ni Luh and another 127 family members understand well the rules underlying in the traditional agreement.
