BPK Audit Finds Mining Companies Operating without Permits

A Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) report recently obtained by the Jakarta Post revealed at least 115 companies have carried out mining activities in forest areas without licenses.

The BPK report urged the Forestry Ministry to investigate the companies that are operating without proper licenses.

Miners committing violations have never received any sanctions, tempting them to repeat their violations and create potential state losses," the report said.
