IN Indonesian, masewo means beloved. Masewo is a village at the center of a primary forest in Sigi, Central Sulawesi. At an elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level, Masewo is located in the Pipikoro subdistrict neighboring the Lore Lindu National Park. As many as 60 Masewo families are fighting against the tide of modernization by holding on to their ancestors’ customs and traditions.
