Along the Riverbank

Floods in Jakarta and other regions are starting to recede. What is left behind is standing water, the stench of mountains of garbage and a bitter memory of the arrogance of the rivers that devoured a city as big as Jakarta. What remains are the thousands of evacuees and ruined houses that once were sited on the banks of the Ciliwung River.
These simple houses are allegedly one of the reasons for the extent of the flooding in the first place
