The Moronene are one of a number of traditional communities which in the past were mistakenly defined as foreign tribes located in Southeast Sulawesi. The Tolaki, Muna, and Wolio, the largest three ethnic groups, are located at the bottom of this K-shaped island. There are also the Wawonii, Moronene, Kalisusu, Ciacia, and Wakatobi.
