PAINI was lying feebly. Her retinas were yellowing, with apparently reddening nerve tissue inside. Among the patients treated in the Tarakan Regional General Hospital, Central Jakarta, Paini was almost sinking. A nurse went to her bedside and took a blood sample from her left arm with a syringe.
She was not a dengue fever sufferer as were the many other patients there. From initial examination, physicians suspected Paini of contracting leptospiros
