A Case of 'Bad' Blood

An atmosphere of unpleasantness spread throughout Advent Hospital in Bandung. The families of several patients were flustered when doctors told them that bags of blood had to be returned to the Bandung branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). The reason given was that those bags contained viruses and couldn't be used. The need for blood became more urgent. "Where can we get safe blood from?" asked a relative of a patient.
