Carmel Budiardjo loudly demanded human rights justice when it was difficult for people in Indonesia to raise their voices. A consistent human rights activist until the day she died.
THE obituary issued by human rights organization Tapol in London spread throughout social media. “With great sadness we announce the passing of Carmel Budiardjo, our founder, this Saturday morning (July 10) at 9am.”
Carmel Budiardjo, as most people in Indonesia called her, will be remembered for her soft spoken and polite tone, yet firm, when speaking about human rights.
