From Italy to Kertagosa

The Italian embassy helped with the restoration of the paintwork on the ceiling of Bale (hall) Kertagosa, in Klungkung in an effort to bring Italian and Balinese art closer together, thereby strengthening a bond already formed prior to Indonesian independence. Tempo reporter Rofiqi Hasan writes about this bond and completes it with the story of Emilio Ambron, the Italian painter who left many of his works of art to the people of Bali.
