Calligraphy in Cirebon grew within the traditional arts. Besides on batik, calligraphy appears on amulets and paintings executed on glass.

THAT afternoon, Kiai Haji Imron Ismail showed two paintings of Islamic calligraphy. The two works contained words of love from a husband to his wife. This was ordered by a kiai in Lirboyo, said the 65-year-old man at his home in Tulungagung village, Kertasmaya district, Indramayu regency, West Java.
