The Silent Diplomacy of the Javanese Bishop

Soegijapranata, the first native bishop in Indonesia, appeared as a leader in critical times. Not many know this figure, his attitudes, and what he did, although he was known to be very pro-Republic. He is famous for the motto "100% Catholic, 100% Indonesian. Garin Nugroho tries to illustrate the nationalist attitude of the clergyman called Romo Kanjeng in the film Soegija. The warehouse is located behind Bintaran Church in Yogyakarta. It is the size of two tennis courts. One section used to be the room of Bishop Soegijapranata. In December last year, the warehouse and church were taken apart by director Garin Nugroho to create an old-fashioned church.
