In 1983, the government promulgated Regulation No. 10 to discourage polygamy within the civil service. Seventeen years on, it has yet to be proven effective. A re-evaluation of what has become known as PP 10 has been called for—at a time reports are circulating of an alleged affair between President Abdurrahman Wahid and a woman named Aryanti.
