OLD Semarang is ‘Little Netherlands.’ Within an area of 31 hectares, there are some 50 old buildings inherited from the Dutch colonial period. The development of the Old City (Oudstadt) began during the 18th century. During that time, the Vijhoek Fort surrounded and protected the Old City.
