Rokan is mentioned in sources of Majapahit history. It is believed that Hinduism was practiced by communities along the Rokan River in the 14th century.

THE temple is called Sintong Temple. It is located in Sintong village, Rokan Hilir regency, about 250 meters from the riverbank. The temple has been damaged, and there are only few bricks left as most were taken away by the local residents to construct a mosque.
