Binongko Island is known as the "Island of Blacksmiths." But many of its inhabitants have migrated and left the craftwork which has been handed down for generations.

Teng, teng, teng, teng.

THE metallic sound of the iron hammered away. The sound came from the hilly plantation behind the community village. There were several wooden huts: in each hut, two blacksmiths were busy making a variety of metal tools-from large machetes to knives. One person held the heated machete, while the other hammered very hard.

This is the daily activity of the blacksmiths in a village of the Togo Binongko subdistrict on Binongko I
