Krises made in the villages of Aeng Tongtong and Palongan rule the Indonesian market as well as being sought-after overseas. Wherever there are collectors in Indonesia there are certain to be krises made in these two Madura villages.

IN the hands of Syaiful, the tiny chisel seems to dance on the blade of a kris with nine luk (curves). With patience and perseverance, the 25-year-old is in the middle of making the pamor (motif on the blade of the kris) created by engraving. The end of the engraving is shaped like half a garuda (eagle), exactly on the top of the kris blade.
