Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, announces changes to the immigration law for visitors. The grace period is until July 31. After that date, all foreign workers without passports and work contracts will receive a fine, jail sentence, and caning as punishment. The Malaysian government estimates there are 750,000 workers without legal documents in Malaysia, the majority of whom come from Indonesia.
