The forest is a sacred place for the Wana. It is their home, their source of life and looks after them like its own children.

IN early July the sun shone brightly through the forest of Tundatana in Morowali nature reserve. The sun's rays fell on a large hole that the Wana people hold very sacred. It is here that their elders pray to "Pue", their God. They believe Pue will send one of his assistants to earth to bring good fortune to them, and that he will arrive through this hole.
