PURWANTORO is well-known. His name first emerged in the Marunda and Rorotan administrative districts of North Jakarta, primarily among residents whose land had been targeted by the Eastern Flood Canal (BKT) project. His house, located in the Indonesian Navy’s Dewa Kembar Housing Complex in Cilincing, North Jakarta, always has people queuing up to see him.

Purwantoro, 49, heads a group that manages lands belonging to people who inherited them.
