The infusion fluid crisis has struck tens of hospitals in Indonesia. They look to imported infusion fluids with a reasonable price tag.

THE flood engulfed more than two-thirds of Jakarta last February. Hospitals were kept busy with their own deluge of patients who were generally stricken with diarrhea or dengue fever. Within a short period, their medicinal reserves, including infusion fluids, quickly started to dwindle. The problem worsened as infusion fluid grew scarce in the market.
