HALF of the antique collections housed at the Radya Pustaka Museum and belonging to the Surakarta Palace Foundation is lost. Six stone statues from the 4th to the 10th centuries were later found at the residence of businessman Hashim Djojohadikusumo in Jakarta.

This is a case of classic mismanagement of antiquities in this country. It is not just the museum of the Kasunanan Palace in Solo that has lost its sacred treasures, according to Sultan Pak
