Rates ‘War’

The Jakarta government and busway operators are engaged in tough negotiations over bus rates. The dispute goes to arbitration.

IF piled up, the letters and dossier are as thick as a pillow. This is the outcome of the threeyear negotiations between two buswayoperating consortiums and the TransJakarta Public Service Board. Essentially they discuss busway fares per kilometer.

The negotiations are tough and occasionally marked by arguments and table pounding. “Both sides are equally harsh,” the director of a bus company told Tempo early last July.
