The education world is familiar ground for Indra Djati Sidi. This civil engineer graduate of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) spent years lecturing at his alma mater before taking the seat as chief of ITB’s Research and Development Department (1988-1989) and later as assistant III to the Rector (1989-1997). In 1998, he was appointed Director General of Primary and Secondary Education, replacing Achmady.
