THE negotiations, which lasted for 30 years, ended at the beautiful and serene Tampak Siring Palace in Bali. Witnessed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the foreign ministers of Indonesia and Singapore signed the long-awaited extradition treaty on Friday, last week. It was a historic moment, although it may have escaped the attention of the residents around Tampak Siring.
