DIN Malaysia, politics cannot be free of Mahathir, it seems. When the National Front coalition lost its majority in the elections last week, its Malay supporters yearned for Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia’s fourth prime minister. Many are worried that the loss in the elections signals the end of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), the political vehicle of the Malays, which has been the dominant political group in the past four decades.
