IT has long been feared that the Indonesian economy can be affected by the opportunism of speculators. They bring in their money when the economy is prospering, but they immediately vanish at the slightest sign of unrest. To protect against such likelihood, starting this July 7 Bank Indonesia will enact a regulation by which investors owning Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI) can hold for a minimum one-month holding period.
