THE attacks were aimed at one person: Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo. Members of the House of Representatives (DPR) persisted in claiming that the government's decision to purchase the Newmont shares had to be approved by them. Agus, who does not belong to any political party, had actually tried to talk this over with them, going to the headquarters of the Coalition Parties' Joint Secretariat in Central Jakarta. But his efforts went unheeded
