BARELY six months after the International Rice Research Institute declared Indonesia is self-sufficient in rice, the National Food Agency (BPN) said that the government’s rice reserve (CBP) at the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) has reduced by 50 percent from the safe annual stock limit of 1.2 million tons. Bulog’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Budi Waseso confirmed the information with the plan to import 500,000 tons of rice.
