The cell at the Bukit Asam detention center was tiny, dark and windowless. A small ventilation gap kept the air from being hot and stuffy. The cement floor was bare of any covering but a 100-Watt lamp hung from the ceiling. It was here that Mohamad Iqbal alias Abu Jibril, a 45-year-old Indonesian national spent his first days after his arrest by the Malaysian Police on June 30, 2001.
