AT Mayan Kediri Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren) during the end of the 1970s, a woman from New York, USA was seen to be mingling with the Muslim students (santri) there. She covered her head with a scarf, wore thick glasses and had a fair complexion. She read along from the yellow book, listened to lectures and during lighter moments, joked around with other santri.
