NINETEEN years ago Sriyanto Muntasram was a nobody. He was head of Operations at the North Jakarta Military Command, with the rank of captain. During the Tanjung Priok violence, Sriyanto, the officer in the field was facing the masses that one night in September 1984. But this was never mentioned in the press.
