Many campuses fail to meet the quality standards for medical education set by the Indonesian Medical Council. Students perform poorly in competency tests.

THOUGH registered as a lecturer in the medical studies program of Banda Acehs Abulyatama University, there was no sign of Tengku Farita when the Research, Technology and Higher Educations Ministrys Medical Education Program Evaluation Team visited the campus on August 24 last year. None of the students knew him, although the Ministrys database has Farita as a tenured lecturer.
