Wednesday Evening Disaster

A PEACEFUL Wednesday evening on September 30 turned into a disaster. At 5:16pm, an earthquake shook the land of Minang. Padang and Padang Pariaman were the two points that were badly destroyed by the quake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale. More than 1,100 people were killed by collapsed buildings and landslides at the foot of the hills and many were never found even as the search was called off.
