An aerial view of smoke rising from a burning forest at Ogan Komering Ulu area in South Sumatra, September 10. The resulting haze was the worst in more than a decade, creating a blanket of smog over Southeast Asia. Aircraft flying from and to Sumatra and Kalimantan were forced to cancel flights repeatedly because of the intense haze.
