The Supreme Court has overruled a Jakarta court verdict which declared Prudential Insurance bankrupt. Will it become a guideline for other courts handling insurance cases?

THE trials and tribulations of the Prudential Insurance case have finally come to an end. Last Monday, the Supreme Court overruled a controversial Central Jakarta Commercial Court verdict declaring Prudential Insurance bankrupt. Presided over by chief justices Marianna Sutadi Nasution, Abdul Rahman Saleh and Abdul Kadir Mappong, the Supreme Court ruled that the commercial court was mistaken in its interpretation of the Indonesian Bankruptcy Law.
