The Office of the State Minister for the Environment has sued PT Newmont for Rp1 trillion damages. Newmont will bring the case to arbitration.

THE legal battle between the Environment Ministers office and PT Newmont Minahasa Raya is about to start. It will take place in the South Jakarta District Court. On Wednesday, the American mining company was officially sued by the Environment Ministers office. The trial is likely to begin within a week or two, said Suratno, junior secretary for civil affairs of the South Jakarta court, who had received dossiers on the case.
