THE Qur’an recital gathering at Risman Lakoro’s home in Mohungo village, Gorontalo, on June 27, was interrupted. Participants left the house to crowd a woman of moderate build, who had just entered the front yard. Some of the housewives stood there gaping: she was Alta Lakoro, Risman’s daughter assumed to be “dead” by the police and court of Gorontalo. Risman, who was among the crowd, could recognize his child by the scar on her head. �
