There are differences of opinion among lawyers and legal observers over the Indonesian Bar Association’s Ethics Committee’s decision to disbar Todung Mulya Lubis.

This decision is wrong because the matter being handled did not contain a conflict of interest. The Finance Department already issued a letter saying there was no conflict of interest and that they had no problem with Todung Mulya Lubis becoming Anthoni Salim’s lawyer. Hotman Paris Hutapea, when he filed the complaint, was acting in an individual capacity, not as his client’s lawyer. So what was in his interest
