An independence activist in Aceh has been sentenced to 10 months in jail for inciting hate against the government. In Jakarta, four students are tried on similar charges.

Times have changed but the present government continues to apply a law that dates back to the colonial period, just as the Suharto regime did, to suppress opposition.
