Despite the KPK's objections, the government has pushed ahead with its proposed criminal code revisions, thought to carry potential for muzzling the antigraft commission. In response the KPK has targeted legislators in charge of discussing the draft bills, some of whom are involved in corruption scandals.

AFTER almost a year of delay, the letter and corresponding bundle of attachments from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) finally made their way onto President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's desk. The package constituted a request by the KPK that the government hold off on its planned revisions of the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Criminal Procedures Code (KUHAP) now under deliberation at the House of Representatives (DPR).
